Although the key to any mission is the personnel involved, the side with more advanced technology, heavier weapons, and reliable communications has a considerable advantage. Eclipse Squad recognizes this and has a standard set of equipment that they use on their missions to the maximum effect:

Eclipse also employs prototype, squad-only equipment from time to time. Originally built by skilled techs to the specifications of former Squad Leader Garet Damuin, this prototype equipment has been further improved upon by his successor, Riqimo Pershaw.

EAST ARMOR
Introduced: The Gauntlet on Nkllon

Helmet

Based upon the proven stormtrooper helmet design, the chassis mold is changed slightly to accommodate some internal changes, which results in a unique helmet design exclusive to the squad. The EAST helmet contains IFF (Identify Friend-or-Foe) circuitry like standard helmets for identification and command purposes. The reinforced helmet contains breathing filters, atmospheric intake and processing unit, and power cells. The EAST helmet features cellular padding inside and a hermetic auto-seal at its base. The helmet computer is located just above the comlink microphone on the nose of the helmet, with lateral sensors housed on the helmet flanks. The helmet is cooled and atmosphere-processed to keep the trooper operating at peak efficiency at all times. The two vents on the back of the helmet are heat dispersion panels.

The helmet also contains a modified Comtech series IV helmet speaker that employs three-phase sonic filtering for clear sound. Talking to non-stormtroopers is achieved through the helmet's Vocorder. The tongue-toggled voice-activated comlink is a standard Herzfall Corporation DH77 comlink with several programmed frequencies. Advanced antenna modifications allow a 'line-of sight' channel in addition to the standard squad, command, and other essential channels. Transmissions by non-stormtroopers can also be picked up via the broadband communications antenna, which are the black strips above the eye slots. As a security routine, which is standard in all Stormtrooper helmet models, the comlink uses linked encoding sequences to change frequencies every few seconds while keeping all troopers in the unit synchronized. If the helmet is removed without the trooper first hitting the comlink's tongue control stud, the frequency coding routine is automatically deleted from the helmet to prevent the channels from being compromised.

Polarizing lens protect against intense glare and provide enhanced combat vision. Built-in holographic vision processors allow vision through many barriers and shields eyes against excessive brightness. They can also create holographic images of the surrounding terrain or building plans, provided that the helmet computer has the maps uploaded. The Multi-Frequency Targeting and Acquisition System (MFTAS) assists perception in darkness, smoke, and other low-visibiliy situations with a variety of filters. Such filters include night-vision, low-light enhancement, infrared, ultraviolet, starlight, thermo, fire, and bright light definition among others. Due to the limited size of the helmet, only four of these lens filters can be installed at a time, and troopers should consider the mission environment before deploying. The MFTAS also assists in aiming against moving targets by allowing a three-dimensional targeting array to best pick the proper shot and can be linked to the ECHO Rifle for optimal accuracy.

Armor Shell

The armor itself is an 18-piece armor shell worn over a black two-piece climate-controlled body glove. Unlike the standard Stormtrooper Armor design, there are almost no gaps where the armor pieces meet. Special design considerations have also improved mobility over previous models.

The armor plates are coated in a layer of Impervium plasteel with additional layers of anti-laser mesh, magnetic shielding, and an inner insulator. The armor protects troopers from harsh environments, projectile and impact weapons, blast shrapnel and glancing blaster bolts. It even provides some measure of protection against radiation and vacuum.

While not entirely effective against a fully-charged direct blaster bolt, the armor will reduce the damage of a standard blaster hit and will resist penetration by all but an armor-piercing blaster; though repeated aimed shots will eventually breach the armor.

The armor backplate contains an emergency 20 minute supply of oxygen which will automatically activate should a trooper be exposed to vacuum or underwater. This unit may be removed, although it is lightweight enough that it should be keep for unforeseen circumstances.

Manual suit sealing and environmental controls are located on the stomach armor, and the suit power cells are located along the thigh plates.

For camouflage purposes, the armor plates come in a variety of color options, from standard white, jet black, urban gray, jungle camo, desert camo, among others.

Boots

The EAST suit employs standard Stormtrooper boots with slightly improved traction and softened soles for stealthy movement. The boots are also positively charged for moving in low-gravity situations on metallic surfaces, such as within starships.

Optional Attachments

Physical Shield
Not yet introduced

The EAST suit shield may be attached to the armor on one of the arms so that the trooper may have additional protection. It is ideal for locations where little physical cover is available, such as hallways. The shield plate is mold from Impervium plasteel with heavy layers of anti-laser mesh, and magnetic shielding. The shield can resist most projectile and impact weapons, blast shrapnel and blaster bolts. It can also take several hits from standard armor piercing blaster bolts although taking such a hit will push a considerable force on the shield and the trooper behind it.

Large enough for a crouched trooper to safely hide behind, it can protect defensive positions or be used by slowly advancing troopers. To increase its usefulness, powerpacks are built into the shield's interior for a small shield generator that can provide some additional protection against heavier weapons for a couple minutes.

In close combat, the shield is virtually useless unless one activates the switch that detaches the bottom two thirds of the shield so that it becomes lighter and thus more maneuverable for close combat.

Due to its heavy weight, it is only to be used in situations that would require it, primarily defensive situations, riot control, or building clearing that does not call for a rapid assault.

Bombardment Directing & Sensor Module Pack (BDSM Pack)
Not yet introduced

The Eclipse BDSM Pack maintains a highly encrypted comm connection to a command post, either ground or space based, and has a specialized unit that can transmit signals to TIE Bombers in order to coordinate an air-ground bombardment to an area within 3 kilometers, provided the general terrain map is programmed to the internal computer unit prior to deploying. Without the map, a line of sight bombardment coordination within 1.75 kilometers is possible.

Generally assigned to one trooper per group on missions that the squad expects to be out of contact with friendly forces for an extended amount of time. The pack contains a long range sensor suite that can scan for enemy transmissions, vehicle signatures, and whatever else it can pick up within 4 kilometers. The pack records whatever it picks up automatically without a sentient managing the process.

The pack is not really heavy, though it is rather bulky. Typically the strongest trooper will reassign some of his or her kit to the other troopers in his or her group to mount the BDSM Pack on his or her back. The 1.2 meter long antenna cable is coiled when the pack is mounted on a trooper's back or not in use. This whip-like antenna and the locking twin-clasps are removable should there be another purpose for them.

Heavy Armor Plates
Introduced: The Gaunlet on Nkllon

Sometimes the exchange of mobility for protection is a worthwhile trade, and to reflect this, there are several additional armor plates that may be used with the EAST Suit individually, as a partial set, or in entirely. Typically a trooper will not use the entire set unless they have a strong physical body, as most troopers would barely be able to move with every single optional plate installed.

The available plates include:
Neck
Shoulders
Upper Torso
Lower Torso

Upper Arms
Lower Arms
Upper Legs
Lower Legs

The typical arrangement would consist of the Upper Torso, Shoulder, and Upper Arm plates. The Leg plates are generally reserved for areas where minefields are expected to be encountered and are otherwise rarely used.

It is highly recommended that a trooper practice on a training field with any of these plates in the manner that they intend to use them.

Rappel Hook
Not yet introduced

A lightweight industrial-grade rappel hook is compatible with the EAST suit systems, and is useful in battle terrain where there are many vertical surfaces that may have to be scaled, canyon mazes and urban centers for example. Housed in a small casing, the rappel hook's case will attach to one the lower arms of the trooper. Provided with 15 meters of cable, most obstacles should easily become scalable. When climbing the device is attached to the waist to reduce strain on the arm of the trooper.

Repulsor Pack
Not yet introduced

Frequently a recon squad must insert itself into difficult terrain. Should the terrain prove extremely difficult, Repulsor packs can be back-mounted so that the trooper can get approximately 30 minutes of continuous flight time via repulsorlift thrusters up to 10 feet. It can fully recharge itself through built in power cells in an hour. Designed to be relatively light-weight, a trooper can manage a jogging pace with some effort, should they be required to move so on foot.

The Repulsor Pack is not compatible with the optional heavy armor plates, as the added weight can drastically decrease flight time and altitude. In addition, the bulkier plates may interfere with the attachment of the pack.
